Low-Income Senior Citizen Discount Program
The
District offers a discounted sewer rate for low-income seniors
citizens. If you are a senior citizen 62 years of age or older,
you may qualify for this discounted rate.
Based on the
current federal poverty guidelines, a household of any size who is at
125 percent of the guideline, or $17,500, qualifies for a 35% discount.
Households between 126 to 200 percent, or $28,000, of the poverty
guideline are eligible for a 20% discount. Besides being 62 years
old or older, you must be the owner of the residence and have lived in
your residence throughout the year. There are several documents that
will need to be brought in to the District for verification for the
low-income senior citizen discount:
- A valid driver’s license or other documentation verifying your age (first-time applicants only).
-
Last year's tax return. If an income tax return was not filed, then a
letter of non-filing from the IRS (first-time applicants only).
- Copy of last year's social security income statement.
The program runs July 1st through June 30th. For additional information on this program, please contact Tammy Clark at (360) 993-8808.

Ongoing Coordination of Services with City of Vancouver
The
District and the City of Vancouver are considering two new wastewater
treatment and services agreements aimed at providing service
flexibility, rate protection and future stability for sewer customers
and District employees. The agreements basically change the
relationship between the two agencies from customer-treatment provider
to partners. To learn more, click here.
What Do I Do If Sewage Is Backing Up Into My Home?
If
it’s three in the morning and you have sewage backing up into your
home, call Clark Regional Wastewater District’s main line —
750-5876. Our answering service will immediately contact the
necessary on-call staff to assist you. Then the on-call staff
member will call you back to get a better understanding of your
problem.
Don’t be alarmed if the responder first
gathers information and talks you through solving the problem
yourself. That’s standard operating procedure. The District
just wants to determine whether it is the homeowner’s (private) line or
a street (public) line that is causing the problem. Each requires
dispatching a different set of tools/equipment, and the District wants
to make sure there is no wasted time solving your problem. While
the private line is the homeowner’s responsibility, the District will
provide input and advice on correcting the problem.
